Richard A. Catalano Sr., founded his construction company in 1988. At the time he focused on remodeling and home renovations. Richard spent a tremendous amount of time on building his customer base and within a few years the company added new home construction, land development, and commercial management to its repertoire. Over the course of time the company experienced exponential growth and Richards’ immediate family became an integral part of the business. The year 2000 was a defining year for the company, as Catalano’s Construction, Inc. became a corporate entity.
Robert Catalano, Richard’s brother, came to the company bringing over 30 years of construction experience. Although Robert is a fine finish carpenter, he has also acted as job foreman on commercial projects such as the Cambridge Galleria Mall and Lechmere Parking Garage in Boston, Massachusetts. His knowledge of heavy commercial construction as well as fine homebuilding has contributed to the growth of Catalano’s Construction Inc. Robert holds an Associates Degree of plan reading and estimating from the Wentworth Institute of Boston.
Thomas Catalano is Richard’s third son, active Vice President and residential construction manager overseeing multiple crews and projects. He has held this position for several years. Previous to this position, Thomas was acting foreman for all of Catalano’s workmen. During this tenure, his hands on knowledge acquired of the building trade, has proven instrumental in his ability to project manage and trouble shoot. Among numerous custom homes, Thomas managed the completion of a seven-home housing unit in Thomaston.
Although Averyl Catalano, Richards’s oldest daughter, left the company in 2001 to earn her Masters in Psychology at Boston University graduating Cum Laude, she returned in 2003 to become the Chief Financial Officer and office manager. Averyl has been extensively involved in all aspects of the company since it’s inception including project management, land development, sales, and marketing. Averyl also holds a Bachelor’s degree in psychology, a personal trainer certification from AFAA, and an associate broker license with Coldwell Banker Soundvest Property.
Michael Catalano, Rick’s youngest son, is leading foreman, fine framer and finish carpenter. Mike is instrumental in the day-to- day crew operations and is also extensively involved in the upper level management of the corporation. Mike is also an active volunteer with LandMark Ministries, which builds orphanages in Tanzania, Africa. He has traveled there on several occasions and actively participated in the construction methods used in that country. Both Richard Sr and Thomas have also traveled to Tanzania experiencing first hand volunteerism in a third world country. Richard Sr., is an active member of the board of directors.
In 2001 the commercial construction division was formed. Alfred McAlister Jr. who became manager in the late 2003 currently manages the commercial construction division of Catalano’s. Alfred brings Catalano’s over a decade of construction management experience as well as an Associates Degree of Building Construction Technology acquired from Eastern Maine Technical College.
Since 1988, our family has completed countless projects in the Mid-Coast. We earned the distinction of being listed third in the Village Soup Times “Best of the Best” readers poll for Homebuilders in 2005. We contribute the consumer poll as a tribute to our hard earned reputation for quality and trust.
Catalano’s Construction, Inc. is a member of National Association of Homebuilders, Mid-coast Builder’s Alliance, Better Business Bureau, Penobscot Bay Chamber of Commerce, Maine Economic Research Institute, and National Federation of Independent Business.
